Meet the coach

My name is Anisa Hassan, a Kashmiri living in California, USA for the past 13 years. A mother of two, an architect by education, passionate about architecture and home décor. However, through several twists and turns that life brought my way I became overly passionate about holistic health and wellness. My pursuit of finding answers to my own health issues and that of my loved ones led me to the field of Health Coaching that I quickly realized was my calling- something that I was meant to do. I started my journey to learn more about this vast and often complicated topic of nutrition along with nuances of this fast-growing field of Health coaching. The process has been transformational to say the least.

I am a firm believer in how we live our today is what determines the quality of our overall lives. Which means our everyday lifestyle, habits, reactions, and responses determine the quality of our life and health. We might feel that the food on our plates, the activities we engage in, how much we move our bodies, the quality of thoughts in our mind, does not have a deeper impact. That is not true. Its time we realize how we are either promoting or sabotaging our health with the choices we make. Through my work as a health coach, I want the conversations in our households to shift from disease management to disease prevention and maintaining health. Food and nutrition, particularly in our community, needs to be put in its rightful place as a fuel for the body rather than merely being a ritual or for entertainment. Finally tying aspects of mindfulness, selfcare, clarity of mind, meaningful human and social interactions, exercise, sleep, weight management, stress management we can complete our health puzzle. I want all women to become more aware and empowered around their health choices and behaviors. To listen to their bodies and to tune into their nutritional, physical and emotional needs to live their best lives.

My Vision

And how I got there

As far as I can remember , I have been curios to find the find the real meaning of life and a purpose of us being here. I grew up in Srinagar, a city in the Himalayan region of Kashmir. I admired nature, its organization and balance as a kid. As I was growing up spirituality, selfcare and creativity were my anchors. It gave me balance, peace and expression. In my early adulthood, my education to become an architect helped me further explore my inclinations , inspirations and values. My turning point came when I moved to the US in 2010. Moving half way across the globe did throw me off and I felt as if I had lost my balance. I became a mother for the first time in 2011 and then again for the second time in 2014. The roller coaster of being a new mom, the responsibilities , the over-whelm, the constant state of tiredness and stress of practically doing it alone, took a toll on my health.

I was losing sight of myself, my family, the responsibility and above all the joy of raising two beautiful kids. In these moments of despair, I knew I had to make real changes and make them quick. I had to take a look at me and ask myself what it would take for me to relax , breath deeply, express myself and take care of the health that was fast deteriorating. I started on my pursuit of holistic health and wellness. Through my journey, I realized that self-care was at the core of living a health and a happy life. Taking constant decisions and making health promoting choices cannot happen without selfcare. Once I aligned myself with my core values and expressed myself authentically, I felt empowered to take on life and live my best life.

The sweet life program

Lose weight with clarity, confidence, and calmness.

Are you dealing with stress and weight related health conditions ?

This vicious cycle of weight gain and stress is hard to break as stress causes weight gain and weight gain leads back to stress. Not knowing how to go about breaking this cycle and making changes to control it can be very frustrating.

This program deals with weight loss and stress management in an integrated and sustainable way. Firstly , understanding the pivotal role nutrition and exercise plays in weight management. Secondly understanding the roles of different types of stressors – dietary, psychological , environmental stress in weight related health issues.

This program is for specifically women in the age group of 25 – 45 who are struggling with their weight and the stress in their lives.

Women in these years go through many life altering events. This change could be an unfavorable event like a loss of a loved one, illness in the family, relationship issues. It could even be a favorable one like adolescence, a move to a new place, establishing a career, marriage, or the birth of the child. Often women go through noticeable weight fluctuations when something significant is happening in their lives. It is this change or transition that throws them off. They often lose a grip of their own self and what they stand for. The stressors of everyday life take over and the bigger picture is hard to see. What happens next is that it disturbs the balance in their bodies, which takes a physical manifestation of moderate to severe health issues leading to weight gain. The stresses of everyday life only make it difficult to control or manage their weight. Stress also leads to hormonal imbalances, gut issues and unhealthy eating patterns and choices. Sounds familiar??

Since the resulting weight gain in related to a specific event in their life, women hold a lot of emotions along with their weight. The gained weight becomes very personal to them. They are unable to see it as something that can be fixed easier than what they think. I have experienced this in my life and come across such cases every single day both in personal and professional setting. This is something that I feel very strongly about and therefore I wanted to be a part of the solution. My signature program specifically works with issues of weight gain and stress. Using a sustainable weight loss strategy that works and taking the variable of stress out of the equation is what this program is all about!!
